I am currently investigating the role of the toxin mycolactone in disruption of coagulation pathways in Buruli Ulcer patients. Mycolactone is a potent Sec61 inhibitor and as well as suppressing the immune response, interferes with the ability of endothelial cells to regulate coagulation. We want to establish the importance of this haemostatic dysfunction in disease pathology.
